Demolition-only tender estimated at Rs 9.31 crore (May 2025) and awarded at Rs 3.90 crore, which the municipal commissioner said would be recovered from the original builder. DeshGujarat names the contractor as Shri Ganesh Construction; Gujarat Samachar calls it Shri Ganesh Corporation, a Mumbai-based company. Reports date the start to 21 August (Swarajya, citing The Times of India) or 24 September 2025 (DeshGujarat); IIT Gandhinagar reviewed the method. About 35% done by mid-November 2025 and about 80% by 8 January 2026, per the standing committee chairman; completion not confirmed in sources read.

A temporary closure for a large pothole in March 2021 was followed by full closure in 2022. Tests by institutes including IIT Roorkee and SVNIT Surat reported weak concrete. Per reports, the AMC filed an FIR in April 2023, blacklisted the contractor and the consultant, and suspended several of its own officials; four directors of the contractor were arrested in May 2023.

AMC issued the work order in 2015; Vibes of India reports a fixed project cost of Rs 50.88 crore, a tender approved at Rs 39.87 crore and a final bill of Rs 35.55 crore. The contractor's own project list gives a contract amount of Rs 39.87 crore, award date 10 April 2015, completion 30 November 2017 and work done of about Rs 34.68 crore. Media reports quote the cost anywhere from Rs 34 crore to Rs 50 crore (Rs 34, 37, 40, 42 and an 'official' Rs 50 crore). SGS India was the project management consultant. The company name appears in sources both as Ajay Engi-Infrastructure Pvt Ltd and Ajay Engineering Infrastructure Pvt Ltd.
