Your data

Privacy policy

Last updated 5 October 2026. The short version: no accounts, no names, no advertising, no tracking across sites.

What we collect

  • A random browser ID. When you post, vote, comment or report, a random ID is stored in a cookie in your browser. Our database keeps only a one-way scrambled version of it. It lets you delete your own posts, stops double voting and generates your nickname.
  • A scrambled network address. When you post or send a request we store a one-way scrambled version of your IP address, used only to limit spam. We do not store the address itself.
  • What you post. Text, photos, ratings, votes and comments, which are public.
  • What you send us. If you use the corrections and grievances form, the message and any name or email address you choose to give.

We do not collect your name, phone number or precise location, and we do not use advertising or analytics trackers.

Photos

Photos are re-encoded in your browser before upload, which removes embedded details such as GPS location and camera model. What is visible in the picture is still public, so avoid faces, number plates and anything that identifies a person or a home.

How we use it

Only to run the site: showing posts, preventing abuse, and answering requests. We do not sell or rent data, and we do not build profiles of visitors.

Who else handles it

The site is hosted on Vercel and its database on Neon, which process data on our behalf, including outside India. Map tiles are loaded from OpenStreetMap, so its servers see your network address when a map is displayed. Links to news and government sources lead to sites with their own policies.

How long we keep it

Posts and comments stay until they are deleted by the author, removed by moderation, or the site closes. Requests sent through the form are kept for as long as needed to handle them and to keep a record of what was changed.

Your choices

  • Delete your own post from the browser you posted it from, using the bin icon on the post.
  • Clear this site's cookies to drop your browser ID. You will get a new nickname and can no longer delete older posts yourself.
  • Ask us to remove a photo you appear in, or to correct or delete information about you, through the corrections and grievances page.

When we may disclose data

If a court or a government authority lawfully requires it, we will provide what we hold. Because we do not hold names or raw network addresses, that is limited to the content itself and the scrambled identifiers described above.

Children

The site is not directed at children. Please do not post if you are under 18.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy; the date at the top shows the latest version. Privacy questions and complaints go through the corrections and grievances page.
