Two concrete bridges were added alongside to carry traffic and the old steel span was closed to vehicles. The AMC's heritage portal dates them to 1999 at a cost of Rs 18 crore; ThePrint gives 1997. No source read names the main contractor outright: the attribution rests on Ajay Engineers' (now Ajay Engi-Infrastructure) own project list, which records a Rs 60 lakh pile-foundation job (1500 mm piles) for "Swami Vivekanand Bridge (Ellisbridge)" between 29 December 1997 and 31 March 1998 with U.P. State Bridge Corporation Ltd as its employer.
